Do You Think Tim Burton and Johnny Depp Got Their Inspiration From This?

This is an old Tom Petty music video. I ran across it a week or so ago.  It's unbelievably funny, ridiculous, and amazing all at the same time.  I couldn't help but wonder... Did Tim Burton/Johnny Depp get their Alice and Wonderland inspiration from this?  I sure hope so. I personally love the part at the end when they're cutting the cake, priceless.

A Few Random Thoughts

A few months ago, I was going through some pictures and I found this one of my Triplet sister Nicole, or Coco for those of you who know her. This is one of my all time favorites.

Please note the hair cut she gave to herself that's what they call Asymmetrical bangs. People pay big bucks for that stuff. I sincerely hope that if I have kids one day, that they cut their own bangs (without me knowing of course), because it turns out pretty dang cute.

Another picture I love, was a print I saw at my friend Mathew Clayton's cabin a while back.  I want to find and frame my own copy of it.  I have not been able to find it in a high resolution size yet.

Now that is REAL spring skiing. Not sure if girls can look this classy skiing in a bikini top these days, but some how these ladies pull it off.  Maybe the Wayne Group will try it sometime.

Reason Number 239 Why I Love Working Downtown

A couple times a week on my lunch break I’ll go on a nice run around town. It’s a good way to break up the day, and I always enjoy the scenery along the way. As I’m running I always notice things that I’ve never seen before, whether it be a little store I want to check out, or a little restaurant I want to try out. Utah is not known for its diverse population, but those of you who work downtown might agree there’s some good people watching to be done. Anyways, getting to my point, yesterday as I was running down 2nd South I crossed paths with an older homeless woman. As I passed her I gave her a little smile she looked at me gave me a full bowing curtsy, looked up at me winked, than gave me a high five. It all happened in one flowing motion. I’m not sure if my ballet looking workout top tipped her off for the curtsy, but whatever it was it made my day. I'd like to implement the curtsy, wink, high five into my daily life, meanwhile, I’d like to thank the people on the streets of Salt Lake City for their moral support. It was once said, there is nothing more graceful than the curtsy, nothing more noble than the bow.

Minolta What?

On Tyler's last trip to Colorado his dad let him bring this back... YES it's an original Minolta film SLR with the whole works.  Pretty much amazing right?

I recently bought new lenses for my camera, so we decided to go test out our new digs.

Tyler had to reteach me how to put the film in the camera. It's a lost art in the digital era. This was original film that we found in the case.  We hope that it still works.

The Camera:

The Photographer:

Etc. Etc. Etc. Etc. Etc.

It's so much more exciting not knowing what the picture looks like right after you take it.  The feeling of instant gratification is replaced with the anticipation of what you may have captured. Remember the days of picking up your photos from wherever they were processed, and how excited you were to look at them?  It'll be fun to get the film back.  Meanwhile, I'd like to thank Tyler for the photography lesson/session.
